CHAK DE INDIA…….

Congratulations!!

Hii Everybody,

Congratulations to everybody- to all the janta on the blog and also off it. We have won the Cricket World Cup and i am glad that all of us could be a part of history by witnessing such an incredible event. Though i firmly believe that its not going to be another two decades before we win another such huge ICC tournament and this is only the beginning.

Our young team has shown a lot of promise and potential and it needs to be groomed properly by the selectors and cash rich BCCI. I am looking forward to tomorrow's welcome of Dhoni's brigade which is apparently going to be a big affair with an open procession planned from the Airport to the Wankhede Stadia and entry free for all the fans.

The team deserves all the accolades and they should soak in all the adulation and cash bonanzas being announced. But they should also be averse to complacency as the Australian series starts in less than a week. One thing they can be sure of is that the Aussies are going to come out all cylinders firing after their humiliation at our team hands'. Ricky Ponting has dropped strong hints in his article that Sree Santh is going to be their main target after his heroics against them.

Wishing our team all the luck and hoping to see many more series and tournament victories.

Signing off,
Raveesh!!

BREAKING NEWS & More !!!!!

First of all, let me update you all that following the foot steps of her elder sister, Ani has also been offered the position of the class-captain by her school management.......
( Can you believe this ????? Even I didn't) ..... After several rounds of intense negotiations with the management, she has agreed to accept the offer conditionally. Hmmmm !!!!!

Her new job profile includes, ensuring that the students don't break the queue while returning from the assembly area, collection and distribution of the home works, ensuring that the discipline is maintained inside the class room in the absence of the teacher, analysing, visualising, conceptualising and stratezising the overall development of the students in close association and co-ordination with the Sr. management etc etc.

CTC offered : Highly confidential and undisclosed yet .....

Now, regarding the English lesson :- According to her the plural of fruits are as follows :-

Apple - Apples

Mango - Mangoes

Banana - Bananas ( So far, so good )

Grapes - Hmmmmm, thats a tricky one, but she cracked this one as well....

yes !!!! and the plural of grapes is :-

grapes grapes grapes grapes & grapes...... Doesn't this make it a lot of Grapes ( Plural ? ) Right !

Ha ha ha .... Thats Ani for you.......

Bye guys, have fun... Keep bloggin' , keep cheking this space for further updats on Aastha & Ani........

World Cup Upsets !!!!

The twenty20 World Cup commenced with a bang, and what a BANG it was...
Thanks to Gayle for his explosive innings, W.Indies scored a massive 205 in 20 overs. But the lopsided bowling and fielding by his team undid all the good work done by him and of course the splendid innings played by Gibbs outshined it and eventually, the result, S.Africa won the match with 15 balls to spare..... What an upset..... !!!!!

And if this was not enough, today Zimbabwe has managed to beat the mighty Australians....
Thanks to an all round performance by the Zimbabwean team and the spirited team effort shown by them.....

So, one thing has become clear, that in this format of cricket, there are no favourites......
A couple of mistakes and even the mighty will have to take the beatings.... Good for the game.....
It makes is much more competetive.....
Expecting a lot of fire works in the coming matches and of course, some more upsets!!!!!

Have a nice time ahead !!!!
Cheers !!!!!

Credit for Indian Victory at Asia Cup to Chak De ????

India displayed unheard of performance in recent years to thrash a hapless Korean team 7-2. In a display of stellar hockey that left everyone, including their worthy highly placed opponents South Korea, shocked and awed.It was one of the finest displays I have ever seen by an Indian team in a long long time. It was one of the best team performances where each member contributed equally for the success and the ruthless fashion it was achieved. Though the man of the match award was given to Baljit singh for his outstanding performance as the goalkeeper, I felt every member of the team deserved to be awarded. There was no man of the match but men of the match in the Indian team that day.

After the match was over I turned to news channels, to listen what they have to say about the victory. It was then, to my dismay, I learnt for the first time in my life winning comes from motivation and not sweat. All the channels were contesting each other to give Shah Rukh Khan’s interview than giving prominence to the coach who made it possible for India to win.

The manner in which the news channels, one by one, aired his interview it was evident that they wanted to prove it was due to SRK India won the match or at least a major chunk of the credit of winning belonged to him. The real man behind Indian team’s victory, Joaquim Carvahlo, remained a distant second to the reel star. I did not see a single interview featuring Mr Carvahlo, in all the news channels that gave prominence to SRK. After the initial shock subsided, the interviews did not surprise me because by then I realized Mr Carvalho was not an icon or for that matter any of the team members that won the cup.

I am not blaming SRK and he also kept on saying in all the telephone interviews that it was the team, the coach and their effort that won the Asia cup. But the channels wanted to prove otherwise for the simple reason the hockey players and coach are lesser gods compared to a reel hero. Biggest problem with our country is we do not know how to honour our real heroes, but when it comes about cricketing icons and film stars, we lavish the praise even when they do not deserve it- as in this case.

Let us try to accept that Indian men’s hockey team won because of coach Joaquim Carvahlo and the dedication of those players who played their heart out. It was no ordinary feat to beat a team as strong as South Korea with such a margin. Please don’t forget that the Indian team had been training for the past six months for this tournament and they won due to that reason rather than a film that was released one month back. Let us learn to salute our real heroes and not the reel heroes for what they have not done.

Please, let us not belittle our hockey team and its coach for bringing laurels to our country and learn to give credit where it is due. If we really want sports, other than cricket, to come up in this country in a big way then we should also know how to appreciate and nurture real talent than coming up with some lopsided ideas to transfer the credit of winning to undeserving shoulders.

Signing off for now,
Raveesh !!

The weekend !!!!!

The weekend was a real happening one..... Hope you all had a fun filled relaxed weekend as well....

It really was a happening one from Sports perspective.... We emphatically won the Asia Cup trouncing S.Korea 7-2,
but as Raveesh has rightly metioned earlier, the full credit was not given to the tem and the coach, but sadly to Sharukh and his movie.... Anyways, was really a a fantastic win and hoping that this continues in the days to come....

And then we had the US open.... The unstoppable Fedex continues to roll...
As they have rightly said, there is Fedex nd then the others, who merely compete for the second spot......

And now with the twenty20 world cup on with a very high scoring opener, the coming days seems to be exciting...
Lets see, how Dhoni and his guys perform this time around....

And guys, please do contribute more regularly.... This is yr own blog....
Cheers !!!!!

Cutie pies.......

Hii Everybody,

I am really sorry for not being so frequent on the blog; though have always kept myself updated from time to time by visiting this place. There are basically two reasons why i have not scribbled anything here.

First and the foremost being a lazy bone, to which most of the people who know me closely, and especially Chix will agree to. The second reason i would like to share with everyone here, coz from what i have seen i have learnt, that this place is more like a close knitted people's forum, who share their thoughts freely; and so i think i can share my anxieties with them. I was apprehensive to pen down any thoughts here because i didn't know what kind of impression will it leave on people but this time around i could not suppress my excitement after i saw the two cutie pies' pics.

They are just choo chweet and adorable that you can not resist your self from loving them and asking for more. I have heard innumerable ancedotes revolving around them, wish could see them in near future, and for now, i raise an appeal on everybody's behalf to Ankit Bhaiya to post more pictures of Aastha and Ananya.

I also wish Bhabhi a very Happy B'day and a blissful year ahead and before i forget also wish Chiku a very happy and rocking belated b'day otherwise he will kill me for not wishing him.

Hope to see some response from the other members. Till then take care and enjoy!!

Ritu.

Chak De India

The last few days have been quite eventful for the Indian Sports. First of all we managed to win the Nehru Gold Cup beating a much highly ranked Syria 1-0 in the final after 12 unsuccessful attempt.....

We are going great guns in the ongoing Hockey Asia Cup and have already reached the semifinal beating Asian champion S. Korea on the way and thrashing SriLanka 20-0 and Thailand 16-0.

And then we have the the ongoing Natwest Series in England......
Am not sure how many of you still continue to watch cricket after the World Cup debacle, but a majority still does......
And the luckier ones must have witnessed the historical cricket match on 5th Sept' 07 @ the historical "The Oval". It was one of the finest show of the Indian famed batting line up and a awesome show of nerve by the gen next.

The solid display of batting was commenced by the greatest opening pair of all time "Sachin" & "Saurav" who now have a record 20 century opening partnership to their name playing in vintage form and was brought to a thrilling climax by Dhoni & Utthappa. And hats off to the temperament shown by Utthappa, specially with the mammoth target, wickets falling all around him and some tight bowling and fielding by the English side, batting at a very unfamiliar position and batting for the first time in this entire series, this guy did something which we are not so famous for. He didn't loose his cool and helped us win a historic match & come back into the series from behind.....

Yuvraj looked like a mighty relieved guy with the win after the kind of pounding he had suffered earlier.... But it really was a moment to saviour, one of the finest run chase we have ever seen.....
The other two I remember are the last Natwest series final ( Kaif & Yuvraj ) and the Asia Cup final in 1998 at Dhaka against Pakistan ( Kanitkar's match of the lifetime ).

Anyway, lets hope that they will carry this momentum into the final match of this series and come out Champions......
Even if they don't , I at least expect them to give a tough fight now to the English side and then we have the upcoming Twenty20 World cup with a fresh looking team......

But, for now its "CHAK DE INDIA" !!!!!

GRAND CONTRADICTION !!

For many years now, girls from the tribal belts of Jharkhand and Orissa have been notable performers in Indian women's hockey. Jyoti Sunita Kullu, Sumarai Tete, Marystella Tirkey, Helen Soy, Adline Kerketta, Ferdina Ekka, Masira Surin, Annarita Kerketta, Binita Toppo, Binita Xess, Asunta Lakra, Suniti Kispotta, Poonam Toppo are some players who have turned out for India with distinction at senior and junior levels.

But in Chak De! India, a brave Bollywood flick that challenges and demolishes several gender stereotypes, Soi Moi Kerketta and Rani Khispotta (screen names) are merely glorified extras reduced to raising a few loutish chuckles. Admittedly it is not possible to flesh out the characters of all players.

But the problem isn't about the length of their roles but the way it has been conceived and the subtext it represents. The movie creates the stereotype of the 'ignorant' tribal. During team registration, one of the tribal girls replies 'Ho ho' (what a laugh, ha, ha) to every question asked. Apparently she doesn't understand either English or Hindi. While there is nothing wrong in not knowing either of the langu-ages, the inaccurate representation ends up reinforcing the stereotype.

The truth is that such players come from the interiors of Jharkhand and Orissa and go to government and missionary schools. By the time they are groomed by Sports Authority of India and become national players, they speak decent Hindi and functional English. They certainly don't say, Happy Diwali, in reply to a good luck greeting. One also wonders why the script doesn't offer any leadership role to the Jharkhand girls.

Especially since India has seen at least two captains from the tribal heartland of Jharkhand and Orissa in recent times: Jyoti Sunita Kullu and Sumarai Tete. Is it because the areas they come from are inconsequential markets that can be given the short shrift even at the cost of ignoring reality?

Is this why the main characters are mapped to suit the more cash-rich, multiplexed areas in the country? And why does a Bengali girl - it is hard to recall when someone from that state played for the national team - finds a place in the squad? Undeniably Chak De! India is a stirring movie. If only it was fair to Jharkhand!

Hii ppl,

The great Sachin Tendulkar (read God) is going to step out on Lord's, perhaps today for the last time. Though he does not need it at all, but we should say a silent and short prayer for the success of Little Master, the greatest and longest serving servant of the Team India, and also of the team along with it.

This is also to inform everybody that i am almost well now, and have recovered from the viral was down with. More later..keep publishing.

Am sorry !!

Hii Everybody,

I am so soory for being so irregular on our blog. Earlier i was at home and since i have come back to Pune have been really very busy and moreover, i am not well since last 3-4 days. I am down with viral fever and a very bad cough. Feeling very weak but just hoping that will be fine in a couple of days.

I am thankful to Kiran for sharing such beautiful pics and valuable informaton with all of us. As for me i cannot identify the temple..may be Pari Bhabhi will be able to help us in this regard.

I also want to say sorry to Mitu Bhaiya, Pari Bhabhi, Kiran and Bindu for not being able to come to Maysore. My trip was almost final, but due to the sudden plans of Papa for the "Grih-Pravesh Puja" and House-Warming Party..my trip to Maysore and Hyderbad were jeopardised. So i guess i will have to miss out on the out of world Dharvad peda this time round..but will surely visit Maysore very soon.

We have got a new room mate for our flat and coincidetally he is from Dharvad!! So i have got a whole new source to get the delicious Dharvad Pedas for me and Nidhi.

Signing off for now and will try my best not to be irregular this time round. Take care all of you and keep publishing!!

With Luv,
Raveesh.

सबसे पहले इस ब्लोग पे मुझे आमन्त्रित करने का शुक्रिया । मैं इस ब्लोग का सदस्य बन कर खुश हूँ । Thanks Ruchi for introducing me around here and others for warm welcome.

Really grrt going !!!!!

Hii everybody,

So finally the big guns are blazing. I am sorry to be away from this blog for such a long time, but i am really glad that some superb work is going on here; and the basic purpose (read frequent interactions between all of us on all sort of topics) behind starting this blog is being met.

I am back on blog after a long hiatus, thanks to all the marriages, engagements i had to attend and pending works which were to be completed. Thanks a ton Pari Bhabhi for interpreting the topic started by me in the correct manner. What you wrote are exactly what my intentions were, but now when a topic (Ranchi vs JSR) has been started i will be very glad to provide answer to some of the questions posed.

But my only problem is that i don't have net access at my home here, and every time going to net cafe is troublesome. So i will publish my posts on Ranchi regularly, once i reach Pune.

And before i forget, thanks to Ruchi di for finally writing something. Will anybody tell me that why Riti di and Fukku are missing out on all the action?? Nidhi, you being in Pune, plzz do something in this regard and ask Puja too. I also want to give the newest member of our KHANDAAN, heartiest welcome to our koolest family!! And all of us will be expecting his more and more interaction and some posts too, ;0 !!!!

As for voting for TAJ, i have cast my vote and i also appeal to the other members to do the same.

Keep up the good work guyz .
Lottza Luv,

Raveesh.

Introduction to the 'latest joinee'

Hi..You all must be aware of the latest 'development' in my life..I would like to take this opportunity to introduce 'Mere Unko'. His name is Amit Verma..Belongs to JSR..Working in Hydrabad for Cordys. He is a Mechanical Engineer from REC Warangal...

From my interactions with him for past one month...I find him to be a level headed person..For more details feel free to write to him...

Luv

Ruchi

Me back again!!!

Each to his/her own....c'mmon guys everybody have great affinity towards their hometown...pls show me a person who hates his/her hometown!!!!

All well said...JSD is best...Ranchi is best...and now I say Mysore is best.

In this case, we'll never progress beyond JSD vs Ranchi...so request to have a open conversation!

But I don't think, chiko started this conversation in this context at all. If i am right, what he meant was to talk abt major cities in our country or abroad. Chiko, pls correct me if I am wrong.

I know all of us have our preferences in the cities apart from our hometowns!!

Ok it's time for my preferences...Top of my list is Hyderabad and then Bangalore.

Hyderabad is a city which blends all religion, communities. You can actually see the city celebrating, Diwali to Id to Christmas. I have never seen such kind of diversity in the cities i have lived in. Warmth and helpful nature of people always welcomes your stay! And it's needless to talk abt the cuisine!

Bangalore - bustling, crowded, poor infrastructure, bad roads, disorganised traffic.....but still its charm attracts you and binds you! Weather and people always make your stay pleasant!

And more cities later.....

take care
pari

Tribute to Jamshedpur

When the first steel plant opened, men came to learn and to work from North and South Bihar, from far away Punjab and Madras... In Jamshedpur, they were welded into a nation... Some worked for two generations, some for three and some for even four. Father handed over to the son, the son to the grandson and the grandson to his children in turn. They have all contributed to the Jamshedpur of today."

-The Creation of Wealth
Life in the city is comfortable, with all areas having 24 hours running water and electricity (something uncommon in most of urban India, including Ranchi). Facilities are maintained by Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company Limited (JUSCO), a 100% owned subsidiary of Tata Steel.
Jamshedpur is one of the greenest cities of India. Active promotion of reforestation & tree planting activities helps in maintaining air quality, which would otherwise have been rather polluted on account of the presence of a large number of industries.
The city won international acclaim when it was selected for the 2004 Global Compact City award from the UN in India, beating other contenders such as Bangalore, Pune and Chandigarh, amongst others. A true testimony indeed to its robust infrastructure, cosmopolitan outlook and strong industry.
Try and beat this you Ranch fans!!!

Raveesh.

Cm'mon janta .. ..

Hii Everybody,

First of all, thanx Nidhi for finally leaving a post..and all of us are hoping that it will get more frequent from now onwards.

And i am very dissapointed with our members for being so slow on our esteemed blog circle. The topic "Major Cities Across" has not got any response, but still i am very hopeful of it getting started.

One of the major reasons behind my hope is because of one of our esteemed member, who would be very soon taking off for phirang land..and now am hoping to get a feedback on a phirang city.

So guys, please cheer up and show some enthusiasm, because now we are even going global, albeit in a different manner, ;) !!!!!!

Again with expectations,
Raveesh.

Saturday, June 2, 2007

Hey !!!!!

Hii everybody,

I am doing well and in great shape. The last week was very hectic and because of that could not visit the blog. Too much work..(for those who don't know,i am interning at a Law firm at Delhi for 5 weeks).. but it is still lot more interesting than reading those boring law books.

So after the bussy week had two eventful and chilled days. Went to Connaught Place, Janpath, Palika Bazar, India Gate etc. yesterday and went for amazing bowling session today. Thouroughly enjoyed both the days and still planning for tomorrow.

During my this Delhi stay (for those who don't know, i was interning here last year Nov. too) , despite its heat and irritating "Jaats"..i have come to like this place. Dilli is acutually the heart of our country and deservingly the capital of our great country. It has its own charm and all the diverse cultures of our country freely mingle here. Not only that, even in the city the old and the new stand together proudly. If at one hand you have India Gate and Qutub Minar..at the other hand you have the CP with all its restaurants and Baristas. There are places like Rajghat and Red Fort..as a symbol of our proud history..then at the same time we also have Delhi Metro and sattelite cities like Gurgaon and Noida, to lead this city into a bright future. The examples are many and they won't cease to end.

With this i would like to trigger a discussion on all the major cities across India. With all of us staying all over India and coming from different places..it should not be very difficult in getting the feedbacks and exchange our views.

In hope of getting overwhelming active response,

With luv,
Raveesh (Ourzone)

Am back...

Hey Guys,
Seems that u are all busy with yr weekend activites n would be blooging only during the week dayz ( From Office :-) ) Right ????? Ha ha ha .. Gotcha....

So, bye till then...

I am a big sport buff and follow almost all the major sporting events very closely. Other than that i am also very much into reading, writing, music, movies and good food. I also enjoy cooking, though i don't know exactly why, am afraid of knives (even the kitchen ones).
I absolutely love meeting new people, making friends and exploring new places.
Hoping to see many more people here and post frequency more frequent.

With luv,
Raveesh.

Good Start!

Thanks Chiku (hope you don't mind me calling that..since all your admirers might be logging in!...kidding) for taking my comments in good sport!

I would like to introduce myself to the blog members (existing and also more to come).

I am Paripurna (Pari) working in Oracle, Delhi as a Content Writer. I am basically from Mysore. I like to read (though haven't done for quite sometime), cook (favourite), write (Pet ka sawal), adventure sports and travel.

Request to folks who log in for the first time, to introduce themselves. So that we can know more about the person than as mere names.
gr8 gng ravs........dis is a really nice plattform 4 sharin thots,n expressin oneself......hopin 4 a gr8 response.....

Bhabhi..continued..!!

Hii,
As we all had expected the 1st concrete comment with a regular flow of thoughts and ideas has come from Pari Bhabhi; for those who are missing it refer to comments on post by Ritesh "Great way to...." and see what i mean.
Suddenly the bar has been risen and we all have to do some catching up guyz.I totally agree with Bhabhi that we can use this platform not only for the fun sake but also for something meaningful and constructive. The onus is on the members to give the blog a direction and i know that everyone of us will be willing.
My expectations from this blog are increasing with each passing day. Though personally, i would love to see more people coming in and that too "fast".

With luv,
Raveesh!!
